Theater Awards
Offstage Honors - "The Offies"
Sponsored by the League of Washington Theatres

In 2003, Jennifer Nelson, President of the League of Washington Theatres, initiated these awards to recognize exemplary contributions made by theatre staff members or volunteers. The League is the association of non-profit professional theaters in the Washington, DC area. With over fifty theaters, venues and theater organizations as members, the League spans the community from as far north as Columbia in Maryland to as far south as Fairfax in Virginia. Each member theater company is asked to nominate a recipient and the awards are presented at a ceremony. As the award has grown in coverage and acceptance, more and more member companies from the league have selected individuals for recognition. The 2005 awards had recipients designated by over twenty member companies, plus the Helen Hayes Awards organization used the event to confer some recognition on its publications manager. This year the ceremony will be held on May 1 from 5 to 8 pm at the new Busboys & Poets bistro and bookstore that caters to the theater crowd.

Potomac Stages Editor/Reviewer Brad Hathaway was pleased to be the recipient of an "Offie" in 2004.
